UXO Consultancy award Zeevonk Offshore Wind Farm
NjordIC, a specialist in unexploded ordnance (UXO) risk management, has been awarded the contract to provide UXO consultancy services for the Zeevonk Offshore Wind Farm, a joint venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).
Located approximately 62 km off the Dutch west coast within the IJmuiden Ver Beta zone, Zeevonk is a cutting-edge renewable energy project combining an offshore wind farm, a floating offshore solar park, and an Electrolyser to produce green hydrogen at the Port of Rotterdam.
Construction is planned in two phases, with the first phase completed around 2029 and the remainder by 2032.
NjordIC will provide a full range of UXO consultancy services to support the safe and efficient realisation of the project. These services include the interpretation of geophysical data, supervision and support during UXO identification and clearance activities, onshore advisory services, and the provision of ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) certification to enable safe construction. All works will be delivered in strict accordance with Dutch legislation.
NjordIC is CS-OOO A-scope certified and will ensure that all activities are carried out to the highest professional and safety standards in line with the Certificeringsschema Opsporen Ontplofbare Oorlogsresten (CS-OOO).
“This award highlights the confidence placed in NjordIC’s expertise and pragmatic approach to complex offshore projects,” said John Bakker, UXO-Consultant at NjordIC. “We are proud to support Vattenfall and CIP in delivering Zeevonk safely and efficiently, while contributing to the Netherlands’ ambitious offshore wind programme.”
NjordIC has built an extensive track record in the Dutch offshore sector, supporting projects such as Nederwiek 1, 2 and 3, Doordewind 1 and 2, the IJmuiden-Ver project locations, maintenance at the Borssele Export Cable Routes, as well as Hollandse Kust Zuid and Hollandse Kust Noord. These projects confirm NjordIC’s position as a trusted partner in enabling the safe and efficient UXO clearance operations for critical renewable energy infrastructure.
