UXO Management Services HKN

Van Oord has awarded a contract to NjordIC for UXO consultancy services for the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind project.

Under the contract, NjordIC delivered a UXO Risk Assessment/UXO Risk Mitigation Strategy via UXO survey/ID&C supervision to the final ALARP sign-off. The operations were conducted under the relevant Dutch CS-OOO regulations and focussed on a pragmatic and efficient UXO risk mitigation strategy for Van Oord, the Dutch UXO consultancy company said.

The contract continued for twelve months and ran until the second quarter of 2022.

The CrossWind consortium, comprising Shell and Eneco, selected Van Oord as the Balance of Plant contractor for the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind project last summer, after winning the tender to build the project.

As the Balance of Plant contractor, Van Oord’s activities encompass the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the foundations, the inter-array cables, and transportation and installation of the wind turbines.

Crosswind, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, is developing Hollandse Kust Noord some 18.5 kilometers off the Dutch west coast, near the Egmond aan Zee offshore wind farm.

The 759 MW offshore wind farm, which will comprise 69 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW turbines, is scheduled to be fully operational by 2023.
